R.O. Writer® version 1.26.63 (released on 10/04/2011)

For customers on versions 1.22 or older:
These instructions will not work!

You must contact R.O. Writer support to schedule your upgrade.

If any of the following changes affect your shop, please  do not upgrade to version 1.26 at this time!

Minimum systems requirements

NOTE: The installer will abort if the minimum requirements are not met!

Supported operating systems and the required .NET framework version:

  • Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3
  • Microsoft Windows 7 Home / Professional / Ultimate edition (32 or 64 bit)
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 / 2003 (32 or 64 bit)
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1

    • Hardware:

  • RAM:                      Minimum of 512 MB on XP SP 3
  • Screen Resolution:  1024 x 768 (Professional), 1280 x 800 (Express)

    Installation instructions:

    For customers on versions 1.22 or older:

    For customers installing R.O. Writer on PCs without previously installed R.O. Writer, skip to step 4 below:

     

    For customers upgrading PCs with R.O. Writer versions 1.23 or newer, please follow instructions in steps 1 to 7:

    1. On all shop PCs, exit R.O. Writer® and any other executables (e.g. "R.O. Tray") that may be connected to the R.O. Writer database files.

    2. Run the R.O. Writer® Updater.  Click here to install

        The Updater only needs to be run once from any PC in the shop in order to perform the required updates for the whole shop.

    3.  ( OPTIONAL )

    • If you subscribe to Epicor® (formerly Activant®), you must be on version 1.6.13.47.  To download Epicor® installer  Right-click and Save As...
    • Please make an R.O. Writer® database backup prior to installing R.O. Writer® 

    4.  Download R.O. Writer® 1.26 installer.  Right-click and Save As...

    5.  On the "SHOP SERVER": 

    1. Run the R.O. Writer® installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
    2. Launch R.O. Writer (to perform the database update for the shop).
    3. Run the R.O. Writer® Updater.  Click here to install or update
    4. Run R.O. Writer backup, and validate that the backup is successful.

    6.  On each "SHOP WORKSTATION": 

         Run the R.O. Writer® installer and follow the on-screen instructions.

    7.  ONLY IF YOU USE the "CENTRAL OFFICE" feature of R.O. Writer, download and run "Central Office" installer on applicable PCs.  Click here
